Saving One Beagle At A Time

Our History

BREW Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that was founded in 1999 by Laura Johnson in Northern Virginia. In the beginning of 2002, BREW Inc. expanded westward, and BREW Midwest was established. In March of 2011, with the blessing of BREW Inc.’s Board of Directors, BREW Midwest began the process to become a separate organization by incorporating in Illinois as Midwest BREW, creating a separate website, and applying for a 501(c)3 number. On August 1, 2011, Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare (Midwest BREW) was officially launched!

Our numbers grow on a weekly basis. Since we began as BREW Midwest in 2002, and now as Midwest BREW, we have adopted more than 4,000 beagles into loving homes! Midwest BREW is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming beagles in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin, and we have also placed beagles into loving homes in Minnesota and Iowa. Our main focus is to assist stray beagles in shelters and animal control facilities whenever possible by bringing them into our program and placing them in one of our foster homes while we work to find a permanent adoptive family. In most cases, without our help, these beagles would otherwise be euthanized.

What Drives Us

Our Mission

Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization located in the Midwest, funded by donations and dedicated to rescuing beagles from high-kill shelters. Our foster homes provide loving temporary care until we are able to find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. By working with local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to give proper medical care to the beagles in our program. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.
